North Bali Highland Nature Journey

From Mountain Gates to Waterfall Forests in North Bali

Your private journey begins with a climb into Bali’s cooler central highlands, where mist, mountain gardens and volcanic lakes replace the busier resort landscape. Handara Gate provides an architectural opening to the day before the route continues to the calm shores of Lake Beratan and the layered roofs of Ulun Danu Beratan.

The journey then moves deeper into Buleleng’s green interior. Banyumala Waterfall is reached through a short nature walk and rewards the effort with multiple streams falling into a clear forest pool. Twin Lake View opens the panorama toward Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan, while the final coffee plantation stop offers a slower look at one of Bali’s best-known agricultural products.

The experience is planned as a private eight-hour route with time for photographs, respectful temple visiting, a comfortable pace and practical local support from hotel pickup to return.

Destination Stories

Places You Will Experience

Handara Gate in Bali highlands
Highland Landmark

Handara Gate

Handara Gate is a dramatic Balinese split gateway set against the cool mountain landscape near Bedugul. The symmetrical stone towers and long approach create a strong sense of arrival, while the surrounding greenery reflects the wetter climate of Bali’s central highlands.

This is primarily a visual and cultural photo stop. Your driver helps manage the visit so there is time to enjoy the setting without turning the journey into a rushed queue of pictures.
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple on Lake Beratan
Sacred Lake

Ulun Danu Beratan

Ulun Danu Beratan stands on the edge of Lake Beratan in the Bedugul highlands. The complex was rebuilt in 1633 and combines Balinese Hindu and Buddhist architectural influences, with shrines connected to the island’s reverence for water and fertility.

Cool air, lake reflections and mountain cloud create a calm atmosphere that changes throughout the day. Visitors are asked to dress respectfully and follow local temple guidance.
Banyumala Waterfall surrounded by tropical forest
Forest Waterfall

Banyumala Waterfall

Banyumala Twin Waterfall lies in the highlands of Buleleng near Wanagiri. Several streams spread across a dark rock wall before meeting a clear pool surrounded by dense tropical vegetation.

A short trek is required from the parking area, so the visit feels like a genuine transition from roadside sightseeing into the forest. Conditions can be slippery after rain, and swimming depends on local conditions and visitor comfort.
View of Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan
Volcanic Lakes

Twin Lake View

The Twin Lake viewpoint reveals Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan within a wide volcanic landscape of forested ridges and cultivated slopes. From above, the neighboring lakes show how water, farming and mountain ecology shape daily life in this part of Bali.

Cloud and mist are part of the highland character, often creating a more atmospheric view rather than reducing the experience.
Coffee plantation in Bali
Local Agriculture

Coffee Plantation

A coffee plantation stop adds a slower agricultural chapter to the day. Guests can see coffee plants, learn how beans move from fruit to roasted product and discover how spices and other tropical crops are often grown together.

Tastings or retail products depend on the selected plantation and remain optional. Bali Hilltop does not require purchases as part of the tour.
